Bhagavad Gita stances

 "Even here in this world,  creation has been conquered by those whose minds  are established by sameness.    Indeed, Brahman is flawless and [forever] the same;  therefore they are  established in Brahman"  Chapter 5 verse 19 "Because of the prevalence of that which opposes dharma, the women of the family become degraded. When the women are degraded, O Descendant of Vrishni [Krishna], disorder between classes of society arises.  Chapter 1 verse 41 "Without desire, with self and thought restrained, having relinquished all possessiveness; Acting only for maintaining the activities of the body, one incurs no fault." Chapter 4 verse 21 "Wherever the flickering unsteady mind strays, Pulling it back from here and there, one should bring it under control within the very self." Chapter 6 verse 26

Week 7

         This week’s yoga practice was online via zoom with Jen from The Yoga Hive. She took us through Sivananda yoga; this kind of yoga is more static and involves less movement between positions. Jen has been teaching and learning Sivananda yoga for 18 years, she learned from  The Freehold Center , in Freehold NJ, which is now closed. Sivananda is a man from India who put together this form of yoga; he had three disciples that two went to the US (New York and Virginia) and one to Canada to teach students about this form of yoga. Every practice consists of the same poses and positions but there are some variations for different levels of experience; for example, a beginner won’t perform a headstand the first time around. Jen’s teachers learned directly from Sivananda’s disciples. Sivananda believed in 5 proper ways of living: Proper breathing, meditation, proper exercises (postures), diet (vegetarian), and proper relaxation.
